The 4th meeting with Everyday short-term volunteering team
It has been 4 years since we first met the EVERYDAY Church's short-term voiunteer team. Thet have always prepared interesting and amusing programs for children at the DEC (Dawn Education Center), but this time they specially prepared various new programs for both the DEC and SCM(Swe Chin Mae) children.
Let's take a look at the fun one week’s events!
On the past last week of July, the team of 23 volunteers flew over fromthe US to visit the two boarding schools, DEC and SCM, that Global Hope is currently supporting. This year, the Everyday volunteer team went with the theme “Cave Quest”. TheEveryday volunteer team divided themselves into the adult team and the youth team. They spent the five (5) days together drawing pictures and learning new songs and dances. The children loved the singing and dancing activities the most. All of the 220 children from DEC and SCM, participated with much energy and enthusiasm.
Without fail, theEverydayvolunteer team cooked up some delicious curry and fried rice for the children like they did the last time. To encourage the Myanmar children to be more active, the Everyday volunteer team prepared nutritious and plentiful meals and snacks for the children.
The most popular program following the singing and dancing activities is the talent market. Using the talents they earned by actively participating in the Cave Quest activities, the children purchased pencils, rulers, cups, clothes and hats. The children learned a classic economic lesson—working hard and using the things earned from it wisely.
To the children of DEC and SCM who spent a wonderful and eventful time will surely hold this as a memorable experience.Beating the heat of this summer, the children grew physically and emotionally. We thank and appreciate theEveryday church’s short-term volunteer team for preparing various programs for our children.
Sharing Hope Together!
